If you’ve added or replaced a remote control for your Raynor garage door opener, or would simply like to re-program your remotes for security, this article will give you a quick summary of programming steps. It’s easy to do and requires only that you have a ladder or step stool handy so that you can reach the program Learn Button on your opener. Ask a friend or family member to help with that ladder work if you aren’t comfortable.

Following are the programming steps that are common to most remote controls for Raynor residential openers. The example shown is Raynor model G893RGX. Your remote may be slightly different in where the program button is located.

Programming your remote control

Setting up a new remote control or resetting an existing one are done the same way:

1. Press the remote control program button until the LED light turns on.

On the Raynor remote model G893RGX, that button is located under the visor clip.

2. Choose an open/close button to use for your garage door.

Press that button a number of times that corresponds to the type of garage door opener you have.

1 Security+® 2.0™ (Yellow Learn Button)
2 315 MHz Security+® (Purple Learn Button
3 390 MHz Security+® (Red/Orange Learn Button)
4 390 MHz Billion Code (Green Learn Button)

3. Press any other button to exit this programming step.

5. Press and hold the button on your remote while the indicator light on the opener is glowing.

The garage door opener lights will flash or two clicks will be heard.

6. Test the programmed button on your remote.

The garage door should activate.

7. Finally, reinstall the visor clip on your remote.

Erase and Reprogram

If you have purchased a home with an existing Raynor overhead door opener and would like to erase all previous codes, that can be done by pressing the “Learn” Button on the opener for 6 seconds until the learn indicator light goes out. All previous codes will be deleted from the opener.

You will then need to reprogram your remotes by following steps above.

Other Tips

Be sure you aren’t exceeding the number of controls you can use with your garage door opener. For Raynor openers, that number is 5 remote controls (or vehicles), or 4 remotes and a keyless entry pad.

Another tip: While you have a ladder available, this is also an excellent time to change the light bulbs in your opener.
